We can move healthy teeth at any age, but before starting orthodontic treatment, there are a few things you'll want to know. Orthodontic Treatment Options
When you think of braces, you probably picture big, clunky strips of metal that are unsightly and uncomfortable to wear – but it turns out that those are long gone. Modern braces are thin, light, and aesthetically appealing, and treatment alternatives like Invisalign mean no one even has to know you're straightening your smile. We offer a wide variety of orthodontic treatments at our office, including:
- Damon Braces: This is a revolutionary version of what comes to mind when most people picture braces. Made from high grade stainless steel, Damon braces use special “sliding-door” brackets (also called “self-ligating” brackets) that slide along an archwire during treatment. They apply more precise force to the teeth, move the teeth into the desired place more quickly, and provide a more comfortable, efficient treatment experience to the patient.
- Damon Clear Braces: These work much the same way as regular Damon braces, with one key difference: instead of stainless steel, the brackets are made from a high-grade clear material that blends in with the teeth. This makes them far less visible than metal braces while still being a powerful treatment method.
- Invisalign: Invisalign does away with brackets and wires entirely, instead relying on a series of clear, removable plastic trays – called aligners – to straighten teeth. The aligners are virtually invisible when worn and easy to take our for eating or oral hygiene, which means almost no one will notice you're straightening your teeth, you can still enjoy your favorite foods, and maintaining oral hygiene is a breeze. Because of this convenience, Invisalign is one of our most popular treatments for adult patients.
Post-Treatment Care
Once we take your braces off, we know you'll be excited – but you're not quite out of the woods yet. You'll need to wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from moving back to their old positions. When we take your braces off, we'll fit you for a retainer, and we'll provide comprehensive instructions for wearing and caring for your retainer once we give it to you.
